HIGHWAY SECTIONS-
Once again we ask all riders to respect the marshals and Traffic Control people on the course. We have to go to a lot of effort to secure permission on this race from the Ministry of Transportation. So when you see a sign that says NO PACK RIDING , NO PARKING obey them. Thanks In advance for acting so well on the road.

Saturday September 18th 2010

This year marks the 20th edition of the Cheakamus Challenge Fall Classic Mountain Bike Race being held Saturday , September 19th, 2009 at the Squamish Airport, 10 a.m. start. It finishes at Dusty’s Creekside 70 punishing Km. later with the first riders coming in at around 1 p.m.
This year our title sponsor is Santa Cruz Bicycles who are looking to help us grow and show more riders the true pain a classic like this can deliver. They recognize the true classic status of this event and want to be part of it for a long time.
We are also joined by Whistler Bike Guide Adventures who will be providing course tours and pre-rides beginning at the end of July. Whistle Bike guide provides the finest in MTB tours and information for the Sea to sky area with over 25 years of experience. All our rides are on Santa Cruz Blurs and Juliana’s which make for a light sweet mount for this race.
Kudos to Ryders Eyewear as well, they have been with us since Bugaboo’s Eyewear in the beginning. Thanks Brent, Melanie, Don and Lois and the whole Martin family, for 20 great years of support!
You need course info and you want the inside scoop then head into either Corsa Cycles or Tantalus Cycles in Squamish they know the route and the challenges intimately as Dave Heisler won the race when Roland Green followed Lumpy up to Jane Lakes and Al Ross has been in the top 10 for years.
Both these shops helped kee p this thing going and provide wicked support year in and year out.
The length of the course is roughly 70 km. if you stay in a straight line. If you wobble back and forth it takes a bit longer. If The 70 km. route sounds a bit much there is also the option of the Pique/Cheakamus Lite which is 40 km. in length and begins at 1 p.m. at Cal Cheak.
Both of these events can be entered through this site so you are in the right place.
There are no new additions for this year, just a buff up in trash and a very fine course that finishes inCreek-side.

2 -areas of concern this year.
When training please refrain from using lower Big Timber as to ongoing construction of the new lift. They have given us the permission to race on the day but we need to respect the closure during working periods so please act accordingly.
When training please take an alternate route around the athlete’s village in function junction. The folks in the guard shack can help you out if you have questions. there also may be some access issues with the lower Ridge Trail from the athlete’s Village up as to ongoing blasting/construction.
